Be it a city, a village, a developed country or an undeveloped one.
Be it in a train, bus, stage shows or inside our own homes.
Sometimes, we don't know how to even react to it?
It may be very subtle like a shopkeeper brushes his fingers off your breasts while merely trying to show you the top or a tailor brushing off his forehand while measuring your size.
It could be the people taking advantage of the mob. While taking the staircase of a really crowded station, trying to grab, grope or brush elbows and blaming it on the huge push coming on. Sometimes, it's a real reason, sometimes, it's a chance they take.
Perverts.
I am not going to describe more hideous things.
But as we grow up, we learn to ignore the constant stares and the noticeable touch, which they pretend as if it never happened.
That feeling.. such an irky feeling..
It feels dirty.
I don't understand what people get by slight or evident touching someone else against their will?
How can humans be evil like that?
Troubling and seeking pleasure over someone else's irritation?
Harassing someone.
What kind of mindset these people have? And why?
Why does this happen all over the world?
It's so common. It's Shameful.
Why education, prosperity or even success hasn't been able to overcome such evil mentality?
Why does the bad prevail everywhere?
I am writing this because I feel heartbroken when I see this happening in every society regardless of religion, nationalism, gender, or any other divide.
It happens to men, women, transgender, gay, children, adults, old people and guess what? Even the dead.
This pure lust and no love or intamacy. No mercy.
No conscience. Where does this come from?
These people are all around us.
They just sprang up when they get that opportunity. Until then, they can be sophisticated or your everyday common man. You may never know or be able to read over their masks.
Why is this so prevalent?
Why are we not able to do anything about it in so many years?
Why are we ignoring it and turning a deaf ear to these incidents?
Don't we love and respect each other as humans first?
Why the good in us stays hidden and we don't take a stand for others and raise voice for them without having an alter motive?
Why don't we, the good people, spread the goodness wide, to overcome this menace?
It is us, who are suffering.
I do agree it's just our bodies. No one can touch our souls.
"You don't have soul. You are a soul. You have a body."
It's upto us how much we let it affect us.
But, that doesn't take it away that molestation is bad.
We learn to move on, like we do when probably we get hurt by a stone or a cut that heals.
Scars remain and fade away.
Sometimes, we try to hit back or fight it.
Shout at the person. Yell. Swear. Become mad. Cry.
When the question is about our dislikes, it's so easy to point out things we don't like. No confusion. We are so sure about it. There is no ounce of doubt, that we may ever like it.
Why? How?
Because We know ourselves.
We know what we want.
Ya. We do. Don't we? Do we, really? Are we sure?
I mean it's so easy to tell I like a lot of things.. rain..colors.. stars.. rivers.. conversations.. my friends.. my family.. see..
I know what I like.
I like red.. but ya, white is the best.
Then, why is it at times when we know that we like a lot of things.. but we still aren't sure of whether we absolutely love it.
That, we are completely sure we want it.
Why is that we run into confusion of actually having it or not.
Unmm... Maybe I am not crazy about it.
So, it isn't for me.
I like it. I love it. I feel good about it.
Yet, I am not sure.
Why so much confusion?
Because, you know they say, when you want it you know it. Your heart knows it. It calls out to you to go grab it.
Now really?
Does that happen ?
Will that actually happen to us?
Or, is it just some theory everyone believes in.
Will the heart know it or do we manipulate it to believe it?
Hehe.. did you think I had the answers to all these questions?
Nope.
Unsurity... Fear.. confusion.. reluctance..
It's like the time you are all geared up for that adventure ride you always wanted to take and right at the point it's actually going to happen.. you think do I really want this?
We all fear the unknown.
Or fear to get bored like we probably got bored of the bicycle we always wanted badly.
The fear that we will outgrow it.
Because, We keep evolving and like different things at different points in life.
We aren't really sure to commit to it forever.
And, we aren't sure about what do we want exactly?
Even though, we are getting it, we may feel, we are losing out on the best or settling for less.
We forget to see and appreciate it whole heartedly with our closed minds.
Confusion creates more confusion.
Sometimes. Maybe to open our minds, we should close our eyes. Think and feel what we really want. Try tossing the coin and guessing which side we want it to turn in.
Well, there have been instances all my life with my loved ones.. My family.. My friends..
When someone you want to get back to but cannot because of other stuff happening.
It's the thought that counts!
When you wish like you could do more for someone. Give more time. Be there. Be present. Yet, for some reasons you cannot be. Be it work. Your own mood.
Sometimes you are there. Sometimes you cannot be. Sometimes, you just want to be with yourself.
Thinking about someone else apart from yourself is a start.
Sometimes, this thought itself matters more than anything for the other person.
Be it a friend, family, crush or spouse.
Knowing that someone does care, in this mean world. In this world, where people are selfish, mean and always trying to take advantage of you. When in this world, you realize someone does care it's just a matter of time and restrictions. In this world, where we are all running, toiling all day, prioritizing tasks, daily chores, exhausted. We do not have time for ourselves, our families, forget others.
So when someone is kind and gives a thought about you. Cherish it.
HUM TUM.. my favorite movie! I have seen it 90 times and counting...
Well, that sure sounds crazy. But, HUM TUM does not fail to bring a smile to my face, each and every time I watch it.
What's not to like?
1. The quintessential girl-boy fights...
HUM TUM presents these girl-boy fights since the start. Describing how men and women really are and their perceptions of each other. It's funny. Even when the joke's on us, girls. Sometimes, you just can't help but agree. And, smile :-)
I am all on with the Individualism and that's why I always feel we cannot judge anyone by the gender.
In this movie, you just take it with a bit of sense of humor because some things are what they are.
2. Cartoons
Hell.. Yeah.. I.. We.. miss the original 2D cartoons a lot. Reading comic strips once in a while.
HUM TUM brings in that nostalgic feeling by adding those 2 cartoon characters in between scenes.
The playful background music, cartoon voice-overs are so very sweet and just the fun of watching cartoons and laughing your heart out :-D
3. Meeting again and again
The whole concept of falling in love is just so different. You keep meeting the person again and again until you realize that it's the one. We have always seen movies where a boy and girl meet and fall in love in an instant which although may seem romantic, isn't always practical. Hence, this concept really interests me: becoming friends first, knowing each other, and realizing your love.
4. Dialogues
The dialogues are apt. From the thoughts going on in saif's mind, to simple discussions between the characters, some soulful, some funny. Without them this movie would not have been what it is.
"kya jhooth bolte ho?"
"Ding Dong."
"Kya main use shaadi ke baad ye keh sakta hoon ki hamari shaadi ho gayi hain?"
"Australia sala.. game mein bhi acchhi fielding karta hai!"
"Ab ye lady Diana kaun hai?"
"No Byes Riya! Kyunki, ye zindagi bahot lambi hai and hamare paas waqt bahot kam hai."
5. Background score
What keeps me engaged in the movie ,is really the background score of the movie. I really enjoy it when there is good music, beats and tunes to help audiences connect. In HUM TUM, there are loads of such small tunes, beats which make you laugh, cry, fall in love. Even the one, when she hits him that tone uh..aah..eeh.. aah.. It's so funny. Also, U N I song by Veronica and Rishi rich is played in bits and pieces throughout the movie and entire song at the end and start of the movie. It definitely adds a modern flavor to the movie.
6. Actors-Characters
Obviously! All the actors in the movie have played their part really well.
All credits to Kunal Kohli and team on the choice of actors. They all are just so adorable.
Saif Ali Khan: Karan grows in the movie from a college boy to a man who refuses to grow up and then a matured friend. His whole journey has been depicted brilliantly. Saif, received a National Award for the movie. Very well deserved!
Rani Mukerji: In the start, Rani's character Rhea comes across slightly irritated and not as cool as Karan's. She is smart, independent, no-nonsense girl. Yet, she is willing to try new things and gets her ideal man.
Kirron Kher: She plays the Punjabi traditional mum to Rhea who always stands by her kid.
Rishi Kapoor: The failed Dad and husband who probably is the reason of Karan's outlook on life.
Rati Agnihotri: Karan's mother. Business woman. Independent mother. Beautiful.
Jimmy Shergill: He is a fresh addition to the story. An ideal match and a good friend.
Each and every scene is well written and well executed and also more importantly, all scenes are well connected to one another to keep with the flow of the story.
ARRANGE MARRIAGE SCENE
My favorite scene is the Arrange Marriage trial scene which comes in the later part of the movie.
The scene starts with Karan landing up at Rhea's house at 2 a.m. unannounced and then the two of them chatting it up. When Karan is trying to convince Rhea about giving life a second chance by going the Arrange Marriage way. Pretending to be strangers, they enact how would it be and end up having a cozy moment together.
"Bachche aur Tommy baadme. Main sabse jyada aur hamesha sirf tumse pyar karunga!"
PLANE SCENE
Also, initially, the plane scene of Karan figuring out ways to speak to Rhea. It's interesting to see a guy, thinking so many things before talking to a girl. Getting to know what really goes on in a guy's mind!
FIGHT SCENE
And that fight scene, when they finally come face to face with each other. One on one Battle. There is mirror breaking, Rhea crying, lots of drama. Bringing out things in open finally, to face the reality.
"Kya tum mujh jaise ladke ke sath khush reh sakti ho Rhea?"
There is so much in that. So many emotions going on in between and inside both the characters.
Karan tries to make talk
Not many dialogues in this one. Awkward. But the sheer hardwork of Karan trying to cheer Rhea up. Not knowing what to say but being there.
HUM TUM. It makes you laugh a lot.. fall in love.. shows friendship.. and teaches the basic lesson of being a grown up.
"Karan, unhe hamari kam and hame unki jarurat jyada hai. Ye tum ab nahi samjhoge. Jab tumhe tumhari Rhea milegi tab samjhoge. Wo humse yaha kitni bhi kamjor kyu na ho par yahan..<3"
And that is why, when I am a little low or bored or just in the mood for some fun, I watch this movie. I saw it in theatre, on DVD, on TV.
It will always be close to my heart and never bore me.
Ladies, we all have that image of a man who would be the one and only! Even if, we have had a bad relationship, even if, things haven't worked out, keep dreaming. If you have already found one, Hold on to him. BlogAdda asks me about the promises my man should make me on this Women's day. Let me picture someone, so that my imagination gets flowing. My future knight in shining armour! Someone like, McDreamy!
If you are reading this, here it is.
Promises are meant to be broken, they say. So, I may not want you to really promise me or say things out loud. But, there are things I would want you to promise yourself or feel these things for me and you...
1. Looking into my eyes
Please, please, look into my eyes when you say something romantic or something important or just look into my eyes like that. ;-)
2. Propose
Well, we always have discussions and arguments over who should propose? or Is proposal even necessary? I am a hopeless romantic and if you are serious, please propose.
"I love you, April. I always have. I love everything about you. Even the things I don't like, I love. And I want you with me. I love you, and I think that you love me too. Do you?"
3. Smile
I just love your smile.. Really! So, smile.. Sometimes, blush too!
McDreamy, your smile makes me go weak in the knees. And those blushy eyes! Umm..
4. Accept mistakes
Mistakes do happen, and it wouldn't hurt, if you would accept them. Just don't repeat them. Yes, it applies to me too.
"I'm a human being. I make mistakes. I'm flawed, we all are."
5. Say it
There may be times when you need to say it out loud. Even if it is obvious, even if I should understand, even if there isn't any need, Just say it. Hearing, I love you, isn't going to get old, ever.
"If you love someone you tell them. Even if you're scared that it's not the right thing. Even if you're scared it'll cause problems. Even, if you're scared that it will burn your life to the ground. You say it. You say it loud."
6. Make it work
For a strong relationship, we both have to work hard. It is not going to be easy. But we do not give up. We will make it work.
"There comes a point where it all becomes too much. When we get too tired to fight anymore. So we give up. That's when the real work begins."
7. True Love
that's asking for, a bit too much, ain't I?
"I love you, and I'm not going to stop loving you. Meredith, I can't live without you."
Keep Thinking! Keep Dreaming! McDreamy is on the way!
I’m blogging about the kasams I want from my man this Women’s Day with the #SadaSexy activity at BlogAdda in association with Set Wet. Wishing all women a Happy Women's Day!
Here's Ranveer Singh making us the Ultimate Wish girls!
Me and every girl out there, feels excited about a girls' night out!!
It may not be a very different thing other than the usual stuff we normally do in the day.. But girls' night out, gets all of us interested.
Having a whole night for ourselves in our comfy pajamas!
The freedom and friendship we share!
It may not necessarily be outrageous but it's still something that rejuvenates us.
1. Chatting our heart out
Yes. We are really talkative and have loads to share to each other. Things which we couldn't share on chat or call. Things we were holding to share in person to see each other's reaction.
Things we just want to let go off our systems.
Things we just couldn't share and tell anybody other than the gang.
2. Play games
Playing games like cards, truth or some interesting ones or missing the old days ones like ludo. We also want to concentrate on some other things and play.
Then, there is a girl in the group who will be a whiner, if she loses. Sometimes there can be silly fights. Yet, it's all in the fun. We have something to laugh about it later.
3. Advice sessions
When we know one of us needs a group advice where in all the others be on one side and show different point of views we have. There are arguments, tears, hugs, long discussions. These talks help make the big decision of one's life. It may not end up being what the girls wanted, always. Yet, it helps in understanding what you really want despite of all the other stuff.
4. Eat
Since, we are up almost till the wee hours of the morning and dinner was quite a longtime ago.
There is some munching going on. It could be snacks, parathas, cakes and sometimes soft/hard drinks too, if you are celebrating. You keep yourself full to keep the energy going.
5. Catching on latest gossips
It's not necessarily intended, around our conversations we may remember something and say things like 'Did you hear? ', 'you know what?', etc. Then the ball gets rolling and recent news comes up. It fisses out easily though, yet, you may come across about a thing or two of which/whom you had completely no idea!
Well it's not that, these aren't the things we usually won't do. It's just that all of it happens together, and it is really special to have the girls around. Knowing that someone cares always helps. They will be by your side no matter what and kick your ass when you need it!
Made of great, is a person who left a lasting impression upon us, out of the hundreds of people we meet everyday, during the course of our life.
There have been many people with whom, I have spent some amazing moments, that have inspired me, encouraged me and made me think he/she is great. While pondering on who would be that #madeofgreat I thought about my 9th standard science teacher Tanu Miss, my own mother, Lavanya, my first mentor at the start of my career and was just scrolling my life over the people and incidents that impacted my life.
For me #madeofgreat is my 3rd standard class teacher Mrs.Mendes. A lady with saggy skin and wrinkles due to her age. Her hair cut short till her shoulders. Her small eyes. The vivid memories I have of her take me to the moment, when I was just a little girl, my small hands, wearing school uniform, sitting on the marble floor in the classroom while other students on the bench, over a huge chart paper, greater than my size and writing with Mrs.Mendes, alongside me.
Our school had recently introduced a policy of writing in print letters rather than cursive. Many students could not pick it up too quickly. I was the one who got acquainted to print writing easily and believe it or not, at that age, my handwriting was the best among my classmates or so Mrs. Mendes thought .
That is why, she chose me to write, a privilege, as the chart used to be displayed in the school lobby, where whole school could have a look at what 3rd A students presented.
Now, coming back to the moment I remember. I was writing very dedicatedly (privileged by the opportunity) where I was given a PEN to write. Writing with a pen was also new to us, because till second standard we used pencil. I was trying hard not to make any spelling mistakes as I knew the white eraser couldn't hide my mistakes. This would mean, I would have to strike a word off, which would have made the chart look dirty. But while writing, I did an error and I was too embarrassed and frightened by the rage, I may have to face now.
I told Mendes Miss I committed a spelling mistake and I will have to strike it out. Instead of shouting at me, she said,' it was alright' and she did something which I couldn't have guessed, ever. She brought a round blue colour thin thing to my notice and carefully started rubbing off my mistake. I could see the ink vanishing, although it left a blue tinge on the paper. It was an ink eraser! Who knew?
I was damn impressed by this new invention, which I saw. Also, I was thankful to Mrs.Mendes who didn't shout and politely rubbed off my other two mistakes, later again. After we finished, she showed the chart to whole class and put it on the school board with the help of those round pins. She even asked me, to mention my name at bottom. Few other teachers who noticed it, appreciated my job.
Now, I don't know exactly what was great in her. The invention she introduced me to, her kindness or her motivation but she left a lasting impression on me.
She became my favorite teacher and I her favorite student I guess. We also performed to a fairy dance wearing a white frock with layers, silver lining, silver wings, with a fairy wand in our hands on our annual day. She choreographed it and had selected that dress.
I remember I wrote my first Diwali card for her, with lotuses drawn on it because I could draw only a lotus properly. I wrote some message and gave the card to her and wished her Happy Diwali. We went to 4th standard and got a new teacher, new classroom. I used to watch her and wish her good morning whenever we came across each other whether in the lobby or staircase. But soon, she left school. I don't know where she is and how she is right now. But, she helped me build my confidence to a great extent. I remember I scored my career best 93℅ during my third standard itself. A great lady and my salute to her!
Lionel Messi has associated with Tata Motors. You probably must have already seen the advertisement.
"What do you think of Tata Motors' association with Lionel Messi?"
